ABC's Anzac Day: TV reaches 3.6m, ABC Online records 2.7m visits + big radio crowd too

The ABC’s coverage of the 2015 Anzac Day Centenary commemoration services reached 3.6 million viewers as Australians chose the national broadcaster as their main source of news and stories for this significant historical event, reports the broadcaster.

The combined metro and regional figure of 3.6 million viewers was a million more than the 2014 Anzac Day coverage (OzTAM). The ABC main channel was the most viewed channel from 9am-2pm on Anzac Day, with viewers tuning in for ABC’s coverage of the ANZAC Day Marches and Services. Coverage of the ANZAC Marches in each city reached a combined 1.2 million viewers.

Combined television audience figures saw an average audience of 859,000 watch the Anzac Day Marches and an average of one million watch the Gallipoli Dawn Service on ABC and ABC News 24. An average of 760,000 watched the dawn service from

Villers-Bretonneaux in France and 464,000 watched the Lone Pine Memorial Service from Turkey.
ABC Online recorded 2.7 million visits overall (a 24 per cent increase on the same day last year) and ABC News Online recorded 1.1 million overall visits (a 30 per cent increase from 2014).
