Settlement Services International (SSI) has today announced that the former CEO and managing director of Fairfax Greg Hywood has joined the board of the NFP.

A Walkley Award-winning journalist, Hywood brings in-depth experience in executive and non-executive roles across media, government and nonprofit management. Currently the chair of Free TV, Hywood said he feels privileged to join SSI and to aid Australia’s new arrivals and people in need.

This long-held value of the democratisation of information and access for all Australians will no doubt hold Hywod in good stead for his new NFP role, where his experience in working with large corporations will prove to be invaluable to SSI, with the chair of SSI expressing this sentiment.

Voula Messimeri, chair of SSI said: “Greg’s experience in senior executive and non-executive director roles, within government and commercial environments, will be invaluable to SSI.

“With this appointment, SSI will be adding and broadening its board director expertise, knowledge and skill set, especially with Greg's particular background in media.”

Speaking of his appointment to the SSI board, Hywood said: "Immigration is a key component of our nation's past and future. Easing the cultural and economic transition for those who make this life-altering decision is an essential service with ongoing benefits for all.
