If you land a #1 single on the ARIA chart the chances are you will hang around for at least a second week at the top of the chart. Eight artists have had songs at #1 for more than a week in 2016 while only five songs have spent just one week on top in the 33 chart weeks so far this year. The Chainsmokers have had a second week on top holding off two tunes featuring Justin Bieber which have swapped spots at #2 and #3, DJ Snake's "Let Me Love You" and Major Lazer's "Cold Water".
The sole new arrival in the top 10 was Australian singer-songwriter Betty Who with "I Love You Always Forever" after debuting last week at #58. Who moved to the US a decade ago and has been steadily building her music career.
There was no single that debuted in the top 50, but spending a first week in the top 50 were Tove Lo with "Cool Girl" at #32 (#52 last week), Martin Garrix with "In The Name Of Love" at #33 (#56 last week) and DNCE with "Toothbrush" at #41 (#66 last week).
Albums
The Amity Affliction top the chart with "This Could Be Heartbreak" which unseated the Suicide Squad soundtrack which drops to #2. We love the chart power the Gympie metalcore band can muster. "Heartbreak" is their fifth album and their third consecutive ARIA #1 album. This is the 14th Australian #1 album this year, equalling the previous best in a calendar year which was set in 2013.

Three other albums that have been around for a little while went into the top 10 this week. Reaching its highest position after some 45 weeks on the chart was Twenty One Pilots' "Blurryface" which hit #7. Then two former #1 albums were back in the top 10 – Delta's "Wings of the Wild" at #8 after seven weeks and Beyoncé's "Lemonade" was at #9 after 17 weeks.

#13 PartyNextDoor with "PartyNextDoor 3"
#38 Thy Art is Murder, The Acacia Strain, Fit for an Autopsy with "The Depression Sessions"
#40 Michael Stein & Kyle Dixon with "Stranger Things Volume 1" which is the soundtrack to the wonderful Netflix series.
