Podcast Ranker August: Hamish and Andy hold top spot, Rush Hour & Marty lift

Impressive performance from Life Uncut with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne – up to #5

The usual suspects dominates the top of the Australian Podcast Ranker chart for the month of August 2022.

LiSTNR’s Hamish and Andy hold at #1 with the most monthly listeners on oh-so-close to 1m with 997,000.

The most monthly downloads goes to ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show with 2.16m. The podcast of Sydney’s #1 FM radio show jumped up the chart two places to #3.

There was an impressive performance last month from iHeartPodcast Network's Life Uncut with Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne which lifted five spots to #5.

The podcast from Hedley Thomas and the journalists at The Australian, The Teacher's Trial, continues to hover in the top 10. The series follows the events in the trial of Chris Dawson, who was recently found guilty of the murder of his wife Lynette Dawson. The podcast slipped three places to #6.

Climbing into the top 20 this month was LiSTNR’s Rush Hour with JB and Billy which climbed six spots to #16.

Another climber from the Triple M stable was The Marty Sheargold Show with the quirky breakfast show podcast package up nine spots to #20.

Another big mover this month was the SEN morning radio show Whatley which was up 16 places into the top 30 at #29. Monthly downloads of the Gerard Whateley show were just over 1m.

The highest new Australian entry on the Podcast Ranker chart was News Corp Australia’s Shandee’s Story at #46.

Leadership of the Top Podcast Publishers chart was unchanged with iHeartPodcasts and LiSTNR holding at #1 and #2 respectively. 

The combined podcast numbers for Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) saw the always expanding audio business climb back into the top 10 with over 500,000 monthly listeners and over 4m monthly downloads.

Podshape edged higher on the chart too, with the combined numbers for the Jay Walkerden controlled audio business up from #15 to #13.
