Google Pixel named Australian Open Smartphone and Camera partner by Tennis Australia

This year, Google Pixel has partnered with Tennis Australia, marking its entry into the Australian Open (AO) mediascape as the Official Smartphone and Official Camera of the tournament. Its recent campaign activation for the Grand Slam, a joint effort involving Google, 72andSunny, PHD, and MFG, follows the October 2023 launch of the Google Pixel 8 Pro smartphone.

Through the AI-powered camera, the Google Pixel campaign aims to offer audiences fresh in-play viewing angles, highlight iconic moments from the AO, and enable fans to closely engage with players and the overall event, both on the court and behind the scenes, through the #PixelPerspective.

Julia Davis, director of marketing at Google Australia, said,  "We’re thrilled to be the official Smartphone and Camera of the Australian Open.

"With the most advanced Pixel to date, the Pixel 8 Pro will give fans unprecedented access to all the action, and help deliver a unique and memorable fan experience at this iconic event."

Genevieve Hoey, creative lead at 72andSunny, added, "Fans come to the Australian Open to see the world's best tennis players in action.

"Our Pixel sponsorship film directed by Dave Wood from Goodoil, music by Zimbabwean-Australian rapper Tkay Maidza, along with our spectacular LED billboards, share the fun and energy of the event known as ‘The Happy Slam.'"
