Nine has announced the promotion of Jo Clasby to the role of commercial director - publishing. She will report to Nine’s director of sales - digital & publishing, Nick Young

With more than 20 years’ experience across the media landscape, Clasby joined Nine in October of 2020 in the role of director of client partnerships - publishing. Before that role, she spent three years working as the Sydney sales director for Foxtel Media.

Her promotion puts her on par with Anthony Smyth who was promoted to commercial director - radio at Nine at the start of the year. Smyth reports to director of sales, television and radio, Richard Hunwick.

In an email to staff, Nick Young said that Jo Clasby had made a big impact in a short time.

“I think it’s fair to say that while Jo has been with us only nine months, in that time she has made an outstanding contribution to the business overseeing the day to day sales publishing team, working the State Sales Directors implementing the commercial strategy, as well as the individual client leads across the mastheads,” he said.

“Anyone that has worked with Jo would know she is a skilled operator who has brought both publishing and television sales insight to Nine. Her new role reflects the importance of us continuing to grow our share of print and digital in premium news environments, and develop innovative solutions for our clients.”
