News Corp Australia has announced the appointment of Campbell Reid as director of corporate affairs and content innovation.

In the new role, Reid will lead the company’s communications with government, business, the public and News Corp Australia’s staff, and drive strategic thinking around the innovative use of content across all channels.

Reid starts in his new role this week, and will jointly report to News Corp Australia chief executive Peter Tonagh and the executive chairman of News Corp Australasia Michael Miller.

In a joint statement, Miller and Tonagh said: “This role brings together the joined themes of telling the story of News Corp's enduring contribution to Australia while also ensuring that contribution is secured for the future though creative use of our content and a reinforced position in the Australian community.

“Campbell is one of our longest-standing executives, who is highly regarded both inside and outside of the company. He is the perfect person to lead these areas, which will be critical to our future success.”

Reid said: "It is a real privilege to take on this role. I look forward to working with our corporate affairs and content teams to meet the challenges of the most exciting time in our industry's history."
