Comedian, writer, and actor Cal Wilson passes away aged 53
Most recently Wilson was co-hosting Foxtel's The Great Australian Bake Off
Stand up comedian, writer, and actor Cal Wilson has passed away after a short illness, her management confirmed on Wednesday. She was 53.
Hailing originally from New Zealand, Wilson made the move to Melbourne in 2003 to star in the sketch show, Skithouse.
Since then, she worked widely across Australian TV, making her mark on shows such as Spicks and Specks, Good News Week, Would I Lie To You and appearing in her own Netflix stand-up special. She had appeared at the Melbourne Comedy Festival 14 times and was a member of its board.
"Cal’s generosity, talent and friendship have been constants in the Australian comedy scene for the last twenty years. Cal was loved by her family, friends, fans and peers and a huge hole has been torn in the heart of our community," her management, Token Artists wrote in a statement.
Most recently she was co-hosting Foxtel's The Great Australian Bake Off alongside Natalie Tran. The new season of Bake Off was in production when Cal was first admitted to hospital.

Cal is survived by her husband Chris and son Digby.
