Well, the Australian entertainment world's best-kept secret has finally been revealed.

Seven has confirmed Robert Irwin as host of the 66th TV Week Logie Awards, to air live and exclusively on Seven and 7plus on Sunday, 16 August, at The Star Sydney.

"Hosting the TV Week Logie Awards is one of the most exciting things I've been asked to do," Irwin said.

"I grew up watching the Logies with my family, so this is certainly an honour. Australian television has given so much to so many people. To be part of the biggest night in Aussie TV is something I don't take lightly. I cannot wait!"

Angus Ross, managing director of television and streaming at Seven, said the appointment was straightforward.

"He has captured the hearts of audiences from Australia to America and everywhere in between; there is simply no one better to lead Australia's biggest night of television."

Rumours swirling

The confirmation comes on the back of months of speculation following incumbent host Sam Pang's confirmation that he was hanging up the hosting microphone.

Pang told The Sydney Morning Herald he had been approached by Seven to return for this year’s ceremony on August 16, but decided not to continue in the role.

“I’ve had three great years, and it was wonderful, but I’m just not going to do it this year,” Pang said.

“It was very amicable. I’m well aware I may never do it again, and whoever does it, I’m sure will do a great job, but I just thought three was a nice number.”

Jefferies enters the chat

Comedian and television host Jim Jefferies later claimed that he was offered the opportunity to host the TV WEEK Logie Awards before Pang, but declined the role.

Jefferies made the comments during an appearance on Triple M Sydney Breakfast with Beau, Cat & Woodsy.

Co-host Beau Ryan raised the vacancy left by Pang’s departure from the awards ceremony.

“The hosting role is up for grabs. Sam Pang, for whatever reason, is not doing it again. He does a wonderful job. If anyone can do it as good [as] Sam Pang, it’s Jim Jefferies,” Ryan said.

Jefferies responded by revealing he had previously been approached to host the event.

“I like Sam a lot, and I think he did a wonderful job hosting. I saw one of them. I was in town. I saw one of them. I might sound like a bit of an arse, I was offered the job before Sam was… I’m too much of a coward. I said no.

“I said maybe if I was nominated or something, but I can’t show up un-nominated. I’m not going to the Logies if I’m not nominated for a Logie.”

70 years of Australian television

The 2026 ceremony doubles as a celebration of seven decades of Australian television - a milestone the industry doesn't often get to sit with. As part of the occasion, fans can vote in the Top 70 Australian TV Shows of the Last 70 Years poll, which closes Sunday, 21 June at 5 pm AEST.

The results will be revealed on the night.

The TV Week Logie Awards are supported by the NSW Government through Destination NSW.
