Emmy and Golden Globe-winning film and television producer Nathan Ross will join the Screen Forever international keynote lineup after completing back-to-back work on HBO’s Sharp Objects and series 2 of Big Little Lies.

Film Victoria is the event partner of Screen Producers Australia for the annual conference event.

Screen Producers Australia CEO Matthew Deaner: “Nathan Ross is a rare producer that has traversed the big and small screen while retaining the authenticity of a bold cinematic vision. We trust that his incredible run working with some of Australia’s most trailblazing and innovative producing, acting and writing talent will expand during his visit to Screen Forever.”

Ross opened 2018 by launching Crazyrose, a full service production company with longtime producing partner and director Jean-Marc Vallée.

Crazyrose’s remit is to develop, finance and produce original content across film, TV and documentaries and has secured a first-look deal with Endeavor Content owned offshoot, Bloom.

“We are thrilled to have formed Crazyrose and be partnered with Bloom. Bloom totally speaks our language of ‘artist first’, enhancing our notion that commerce and art can exist effectively and not be compromised. Our hope is to foster character-driven stories and something seemingly unique and unprecedented in the marketplace that we and other filmmakers can take advantage of,” Ross said.

Ross and Vallée, who have been working together for over 12 years, started their careers in film, switching to TV as executive producers on HBO’s Big Little Lies, which picked up eight Emmy awards, including best director for Vallée. Their next TV project was Sharp Objects.
