Box Office: Back on-top of the charts! Bob Marley: One Love biopic mesmerises fans across the world

1. Bob Marley: One Love - $2,040,714 (debut)

Debuting in the number one position was Paramount's Bob Marley: One Love biopic which has made an impressive $80 million worldwide on a $70 million budget. The film has also garnered a high audience score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes and was produced with the involvement of the Marley estate.

Locally, the film grossed $2,040,714, averaging $4,847 over 421 screens. 

Synopsis: Jamaican singer-songwriter Bob Marley (Kingsley Ben-Adir) overcomes adversity to become the most famous reggae musician in the world.

2. Madame Web - $1,718,187 (debut)

Sony's Madame Web came in second for its debut, with the SSU film grossing $1,718,187 for its first week in cinemas. The Dakota Johnson-led flick averaged $4,317 over 398 screens. 

Synopsis: Cassandra Webb (Dakota Johnson) is a New York City paramedic who starts to show signs of clairvoyance. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she must protect three young women from a mysterious adversary who wants them dead.

3. Force of Nature: The Dry 2 - $958,922 (1)

Debuting in the third position was the second instalment to Roadshow's The Dry franchise, Force of Nature. Starring Eric Bana and Deborra-Lee Furness, the movie brought in $958,922 for its second week in cinemas, averaging $2,550 over 376 screens and down 41%. The flick has now made $2,380,275 in cinemas to date.

Synopsis: Five women head out on a remote hiking retreat but only four return, each telling a different story. Detective Aaron Falk (Bana) must find out what really happened before time runs out.

4. Argylle - $668,669 (2)

Sitting at number two was Universal's Argylle starring Dua Lipa and Henry Cavill. In Australia, the film grossed $668,669, averaging $2,123 over 315 screens for its second week in cinemas, down 47%. This now brings its total earnings to $5,299,141 in Australian cinemas to date.

Synopsis: Reclusive author Elly Conway (Lipa) writes best-selling espionage novels about a secret agent named Argylle (Cavill) who's on a mission to unravel a global spy syndicate. However, when the plots of her books start to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, the line between fiction and reality begins to blur.

5. Anyone But You - $547,341 (3)

Rounding out the top five and in its eighth week in cinemas was Sony's romcom, Anyone But You. Over the weekend, it took $547,341, down 26%. It averaged $1,962 over 279 screens and has made $21,498,934 in Australian cinemas to date.

Synopsis: Despite an amazing first date, Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben's (Glen Powell) initial attraction quickly turns sour. However, when they unexpectedly find themselves at a destination wedding in Australia, they pretend to be the perfect couple to keep up appearances.
