Box Office: Wrath of Man back to #1 in quiet week at cinemas

• The Australian box office dropped 35% with no notable new releases

Beware the Wrath of Man as the action blockbuster has returned to the #1 spot at the Australian box officer after a quiet week with no new releases cracking the top five.

The only change to the top five was the return of Peter Rabbit 2 which has come in at #4 this week in its ninth week of release. The films total now sits at $20.78m.

The film to drop out of the top five this week was Mortal Kombat which had made $9.06m over the last five weeks.

Overall the Australian box office made a total of $3.86m over the weekend, which was a decline of 35% week on week.

#1 Wrath of Man $719,734

The action film directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Jason Statham has moved up one spot from last week, taking back top position after an average of 2,399 on 300 screens. The film now has a total of $6.03m over the last four weeks.

#2 Those Who Wish Me Dead $698,735

The film starring Angelina Jolie has slipped to #2 this week after averaging $2,177 on 321 screens. This was the most screens in the country over the weekend, with the film earning a total of $2.25m after two weeks.

#3 Spiral: From the Book of Saw $373,291

The horror film that continues the legacy of Saw on the big screen has stayed in third position in its second week of release. The horror film had an average of $1,343 on 278 screens with a total of $1.44m.

#4 Peter Rabbit 2 $309,773

After nine weeks the family romp still finds itself in the top five after briefly dropping out last week. The film averaged $1,210 on 256 screens.

#5 June Again

The Aussie flick now has a total of $1.81m after averaging $947 on 306 screens.
