Paramount+ has claimed its biggest ever series launch with the global debut of MobLand, a gritty new crime drama that pulled in 8.8 million viewers in its first seven days.

The result marks a milestone not just for the platform's Australian division, but globally, with the premiere week audience quadrupling from day one, up an eye-watering 298%.

Crime, cast, and commercial clout

For Paramount+, MobLand now joins 1923 and Landman as one of its top three launches of all time.

The series is a collaborative effort from SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, and is executive produced by Guy Ritchie in his first major television outing for the platform.

Created and written by Top Boy's Ronan Bennett, and co-written by The Agency and Spectre scribe Jez Butterworth, MobLand continues a hot streak under Butterworth's exclusive overall deal with Paramount+.

The series is another proof point in Chris McCarthy's content strategy that blends bold talent with cinematic scale, a mix that is clearly delivering returns.
