Equality Media + Marketing was recognised by REA Group as the winner of the Wellbeing Initiative of the Year category at the seventh Annual REA Excellence Awards (AREAs).

Equality Marketing + Media is an independent marketing agency that specialises in the Development & Construction sector, partnering with clients across Australia and New Zealand.

The agency was awarded the AREA for Wellbeing Initiative of the Year with recognition as best in class across Australia for its achievements and practices around “Equality Time” a 32-hour flexible working week with a dedicated weekly “Life management” day.

Marilla Akkermans, founder and managing director, said: "Equality is an agency that was founded with wellbeing at its core, we’re a people-first agency, and the 4-day workweek seemed like the perfect opportunity for a people-first policy.

"I had been following the 4-day work week for a few years prior and was really interested in trying to trail that within our own organisation. So, we decided to call our 4-day workweek Equality Time. For us, a 4-day workweek looks like 50% of our team off on a Monday and 50% off on a Friday.

"Our team overall are happier and feeling more relaxed. We’ve worked hard over the last five years to ensure that we are a people-first organisation and are honoured to be recognised in this list with some formidable industry peers such as Bowens and Di Jones Real Estate’"

Amy Read, REA Group general manager customer experience and marketing, said: “First established in 2016, the AREAs celebrate the success of property industry professionals and their outstanding performance in supporting Australians through every aspect of their property journey.

"The Wellbeing Initiative of the Year award was first introduced in 2021, in partnership with wellness experts Benny Button. Many of our customers have programs focused on improving the health and wellbeing of their teams, and with their outstanding proactivity in the wellbeing space, we were delighted to recognise Equality Media + Marketing as deserved AREA winners this year.”
