Nine's AFL Footy Show My Room telethon raises over $800k for children with cancer

AFL greats, sporting heroes and much-loved Australian personalities worked in the Celebrity Phone Room as part of The Footy Show My Room Telethon last night on Nine in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

The Footy Show ran the three-hour spectacular to raise funds for My Room, the children’s cancer charity. As of early Friday morning, the total raised was just over $800,000.
Rebecca Maddern, James Brayshaw, Sam Newman, Billy Brownless, Shane Crawford and Dave Hughes took part in crazy stunts across the special edition of the show.

More than 45 star AFL players answered calls and took donations in the Celebrity Phone Room supported by Telstra, including Luke Hodge, Dane Swan, Tom Hawkins, Trent Cotchin, Alex Rance, Jimmy Bartel, Joel Selwood, Brendon Goddard, Jordan Lewis, Jack Watts, Adam Cooney, Nick Dal Santo, Dustin Martin, Isaac Smith and Nick Riewoldt.
Rio gold medallist Mack Horton donated his time as did Shane Warne, Melbourne Vixens’ Kate Moloney, Tegan Philip and Jo Weston, former Australian netball captain and world champion Sharelle McMahon and Women’s Football League players Daisy Pearce and Moana Hope.

One hundred per cent of the proceeds from the telethon will go towards striving for better outcomes for children with cancer, funding clinical research projects and family care, as well as supporting the Monash Children’s Hospital’s Cancer Centre.
