Gogglebox Australia star Di Kershaw has died aged 76 after a short illness.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford broke the news on 3AW this morning. He said: "She’s been sick sadly for a couple of months now, so condolences to Mick and the entire family.

"She was a great talent – the producers struck gold when they found her," Ford added.

Kershaw is survived by her husband Mick, their adult children Victoria and Alex, and young grandson Harvey.

Foxtel, Network 10 and Endemol Shine Australia, who air and produce the series respectively, said in a joint statement to Mediaweek paying tribute to the TV talent.

"We are unbelievably saddened to hear of the passing of Di Kershaw.

“For the past eight years we were privileged to have her luminescent character make us chuckle with her sardonic wit, crackling laugh and her impeccable style on Gogglebox.

Kershaw was a former model and was married to her husband Mick for more than 50 years.

The couple were Indigenous art dealers who lived in Sydney and had appeared in every season of Gogglebox Australia since 2015, except for a number of episodes in season 11 in 2020, as they opted to self-isolate in their home.

On the show, Kershaw was best know for her sharp sense of humour and her fearless commentary on the week's entertainment programming and big TV events.

Kershaw's work in the visual arts space was also recognised, and in 2020 she received an Order of Australia.
