GroupM has appointed Venessa Hunt to the newly created position of GroupM head of mobile.

Hunt joins GroupM on 15 February from her current post as head of mobile strategy and advertising at Yahoo!7. She previously headed the Australian and New Zealand launch of Appsnack, Exponential’s mobile division, and was co-chair of mobile industry group AIMIA in 2015.

Her appointment signals GroupM’s continued emphasis on helping clients navigate the growing importance of mobile marketing and deliver an effective mobile experience.

GroupM chief digital officer John Miskelly said: “Mobility now plays a critical role in an advertiser’s communications strategy. Therefore it is incumbent upon us to be ahead of the curve in this space for our clients, which I why I am so thrilled for Venessa to be joining GroupM.

“She is without doubt one of leading thinkers on mobility within APAC and having her on board will help solidify and strengthen our expertise in this area. The addition of Venessa to the team builds upon our market leading digital position across our agencies, Xaxis, GroupM Connect and Plista.”

Hunt added: “GroupM is in a very unique position to fundamentally challenge our industry on the opportunities for mobile advertising. I look forward to working with the teams and their clients to make a positive change and meaningful impact for brands, the agencies and the industry as a whole.”
