Herald Sun celebrates "25 years of togetherness"

News Corp Australia's Melbourne daily the Herald Sun celebrates 25 years of existence today.

Launched in 1990, the title was born out of the merger of Victoria's morning papers The Sun and News Pictorial and evening paper The Herald.

Currently, over three million people access the title's content across print, mobile, tablet and web per month.

The Herald Sun celebrated the milestone at an event in Melbourne last night. Guests attending the celebrations included HWT chairman Penny Fowler, executive general manager Peter Clark and managing director – editorial Peter Blunden.

Seven newsreader Jennifer Keyte was the MC for the night, with food prepared by celebrated chef Shane Delia, from Maha, and live entertainment from Sony Music artists Nathaniel and Kate Ceberano. Music guru Molly Meldrum got behind the decks as a guest DJ. Comedian Dave Hughes was also present at the event and delivered a roast and a toast to the Herald Sun. Singer Delta Goodrem made a video tribute to the team and the title's journey.

A feature of today’s newspaper is a four-page wraparound commemorating the anniversary with a stunning Mark Knight original cartoon, and a remarkable image captured at last night’s event (above), featuring 25 Herald Sun journalists alongside an Australian icon in their field of expertise. Couplings included Andrew Bolt and former Premier Jeff Kennett, columnist Andrew Rule and Lord Mayor Robert Doyle, feature writer Wendy Tuohy and philanthropist Jeanne Pratt, music writer Cameron Adams and music guru Molly Meldrum, business commentator Terry McCrann and businessman John Elliott, chief footy writer Mark Robinson and 1990 Premiership coach Leigh Matthews, fashion editor Kim Wilson and model Rebecca Judd, Confidential writer Luke Dennehy and reality TV star Gina Liano.
