Production has commenced on the second season of the award-winning drama series House of the Dragon. Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.

We are thrilled to be shooting again with members of our original family as well as new talents on both sides of the camera. All your favourite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle. We can’t wait to share what we have in store.”

The returning cast includes Matt Smith (The Crown), Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One), Emma D’Arcy (Truth Seekers), Steve Toussaint (Doctor Who), Eve Best (Nurse Jackie), Sonoya Mizuno (Ex Machina), Fabien Frankel (The Serpent), Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill), Ewan Mitchell (The Last Kingdom), and Tom Glynn-Carney (Dunkirk).

Season one also features Australian stars Milly Alcock (Upright) as Young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Ryan Corr (The Water Diviner) as Ser Harwin ‘Breakbones’ Strong.

House of the Dragon is Co-Created and Executive Produced by George R.R. Martin. Co-Creator/Co-Showrunner/Executive Producer, Ryan Condal; Executive Producers Sara Hess, Alan Taylor, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Loni Peristere, and Vince Gerardis.

Premiering in August 2022, the Game of Thrones spin-off set a new viewing record with 1.235 million viewers watching the first episode, becoming the biggest premiere for any show in history across Foxtel and Binge.
