Hughesy & Kate from The X Studio

Usually Melbourne-based, ARN's Hughesy & Kate broadcasted their national drive show from underneath Kings Cross' iconic Coke sign at The X Studio yesterday.

When Mediaweek paid a visit, the high-rating pair were enjoying the best view and the best coffee that Kings Cross has to offer. "It's a great spot. Can we broadcast here every day?" asked Hughesy.

The duo were relaxed, having spent the ratings break in Italy (Kate) and Port Douglas (Hughesy). Having achieved impressive ratings in the last survey (#2 FM in Sydney, #1 FM in Melbourne, #1 overall in Adelaide) with their newly syndicated show, they said they weren't particularly worried about the return of Hamish & Andy to the Hit Network. "We've been getting great results in a lot of the markets - and we're new in most of them, people haven't heard us before. We think we're making a good show and people are listening, so we're not too concerned about what other people are doing," explained Kate.

Following the broadcast, Hughesy & Kate mingled with ARN execs, clients and journos before answering a Q & A with their anchor Matty Acton.
