Ruby Rose takes Katy Perry allegations to police

Ruby Rose says she has filed police reports following sexual assault allegations against Katy Perry, and will no longer comment publicly as the matter moves into a formal process.

In a statement posted to Threads on Tuesday night (April 14), the Australian actor said she had “finalised all of my reports”, adding she is now unable to “comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved”.

Rose said the restriction would likely manifest as online silence, despite ongoing engagement behind the scenes.

“It’s going to look like I am ignoring everything from supportive messages to other people’s experiences, but I’m not. This is a standard request from the police and in many ways, quite the relief.”

She added that stepping back from public commentary would allow her to begin “the healing process” and “temporar[ily] move forward”.

Rose’s initial claims, shared via Threads on Sunday night, described an alleged incident from her early 20s. She said it had taken “almost two decades” to speak publicly about the experience.

“Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks,” she wrote, responding to a post about Perry poking fun at Justin Bieber’s headline set at Coachella.

She shared more details in subsequent posts. “[Perry] didn’t kiss me,” Rose claimed. “She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friend’s lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.”

She claimed she has corroborative photos and that numerous people witnessed the encounter.

“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, but they are also dangerous, reckless lies,” a representative for Perry said in a statement to Variety on Tuesday.

“Ms Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”

The situation remains ongoing. “I love you all so much,” Rose concluded in her post.
