LiSTNR and RiAus partnership

LiSTNR has announced its collaboration with the Royal Institute of Australia (RiAus) that will bring science to life for all Australians through audio.

The long-term partnership between the audio platform and the independent not-for-profit aims to connect people with the world of science, to create, distribute and commercialise podcasts exclusively for the platform.

Science podcasts have grown exponentially in popularity as consumers embrace the fascinating world of science. A University of Canberra study found that science ranked in the top four most popular specialist podcasts among Australian news consumers.

RiAus is the leading daily science publishing organisation in Australia that aims to make the world of science appealing to all Australians and publishes the highly respected Cosmos magazine - print and daily digital editions, as well as regular newsletters - that aims to inspire curiosity in “The Science of Everything” and make the world of science accessible to everyone.

Grant Blackley, SCA CEO, said: "We know that our audience has a strong appetite for the world of science. Almost a quarter of LiSTNR’s audience have science as their favourite genre, along with news and politics.

"Science is exciting and engaging and we all have a fascination with the world of science and all its life changing achievements. I’m delighted to welcome RiAus to the LiSTNR family and I’m confident that our partnership will produce a range of must-listen podcasts in the near future," he added.

Will Berryman, RiAus executive director, said: "The work of science and scientists is essential to our well-being, touching our lives every day . It’s in everything we do, whether it’s finding a solution to global hunger, building a better house, or baking the perfect loaf of bread.

RiAus chairman, Peter Yates, said: "We commend SCA for recognising science as an important pillar of their leading platform. For us, this comes at a time when our mission and science journalism has never been as important. SCA in partnering with us and our content gives us commercial avenues to reinforce the sustainability of our socially important mission. It is an innovation in publishing."
