Our annual listing of 25 media executives who made a difference this year and are shaping how 2018 will look.

Paul Dykzeul, CEO, Bauer Media Australia

Dykzeul moved from New Zealand to Sydney earlier this year, taking over from former CEO Nick Chan. “I haven’t come here to run the status quo,” Dykzeul told Mediaweek recently. “I am not the slightest bit interested in that. I feel very strongly that the business here needs a really new focus and a reshaping. That will come with its difficulties. We are going to do things that will be uncomfortable. We will review the titles we have and there will be some job losses. I am not going to shy away from that if it needs to be done.”

Two recent decisions saw the closure of Yours and Homes+ with Dykzeul telling Mediaweek that Bauer will be using its resources to focus on its bigger brand.
