Hot List April 2023

In the latest HOT List of 2023, Mediaweek contributing editor and MFA Hall of Famer Greg “Sparrow” Graham continues tracking the best-performing media and creative agencies.

HOT List: Sizzling HOT

Media agency

Match & Wood

What a sizzling hot run so far this year, after the recent big win of Catch.com.au along with the successes of Peet Limited and Snooze. This Melbourne indie is batting above its weight, and Match & Wood is definitely a worthy contender on our monthly Hot List.

Creative Agency

Howatson+Company

It is the work of course that makes Howatson+Company sizzling hot especially the new work for Belong called Thumitt. The creative is around the stat that the average Aussie scrolls the height of Everest on their phone every month, and it certainly grabbed my attention. Also, a recent Mediaweek Ad Placement of the Month winner for 10PM with dirty dumped mattresses was also an attention-stopper. Plus, their recent growth with wins for TK Maxx, MYOB and UNSW is impressive.

Hatched Team Hatched

HOTTEST

Media Agency

Hatched

Following on from consistent growth, award success plus the recent win of the Reece account, Hatched goes from strength to strength. Hatched continues to attract great talent (eg. Adam Steward new head of performance and e-commerce) and build its presence in the Sydney market. Another powerful indie with HQ in Melbourne and shows no sign of cooling down.

Creative Agency

Today The Brave

A new creative agency that is certainly turning up the temperature with recent wins for Zambrero, News Corp, and Coposit. A very ambitious name with its growth and success in a relatively short time showing it really is Brave.

Hot List This Is Flow

HOT

Media Agency

This Is Flow

Always simmering along this hot indie grabbed another new business prize winning A2 Milk after a string of recent wins this year e.g. Air Asia, Hard Yakka, etc Plus they continue to attract top talent such as chief strategy officer Catherine Ruston and new chief financial officer Jeff Ewing. This Is Flow is one to watch and will continue its hot streak.

Wild Secrets

Creative Agency

The Royals

Hot wins for Nexba Beverages, Guide Dogs and Koala are delivering growth and getting attention in the marketplace. However, it is the new creative work for online retailer Wild Secrets that stopped me in my tracks. Sex gets better with age, they identified a gap in the market for those over 65s. With my ageism hat on I say bravo plus I loved the mobile billboards around retirement villages.
