Network 10 will launch 10+1, a free-to-air timeshift channel broadcasting the full Channel 10 schedule one hour later, from August 10 on Channel 14 in metro markets.

The channel requires no internet connection or subscription and is free to watch on standard television sets. Viewers may need to perform a channel rescan on their television or set-top box to locate the new service.

Advertiser reach pitch

Grant Madigan, Vice President Sales, Paramount Australia and New Zealand, said advertisers buying Channel 10 in metro markets would automatically extend their campaign reach to a second free-to-air audience at no additional cost.

"The launch of 10+1 is a genuine win for our commercial partners," Madigan said.

"Advertisers buying Channel 10 in metro markets now automatically extend their campaign reach to a second free-to-air audience - the same premium content, the same ads, one hour later."

Madigan said the evidence showed timeshift channels meaningfully grow total audience delivery without any additional investment from partners.

"In a market where every impression counts, 10+1 gives brands two opportunities to connect with viewers across our full schedule - drama, reality, sport, news, entertainment - all in a brand-safe, free-to-air environment," he said.

International precedent

10+1 joins timeshift services already operating in the United Kingdom - ITV1+1, Channel 4+1 and Channel 5+1 - as well as Ireland's RTÉ +1 services and New Zealand's TVNZ 1+1 and TVNZ 2+1, which have been available since 2012.

Network 10 noted that for breaking news and live sport, Channel 10 remains the destination for real-time coverage, with 10+1 always reflecting content that aired one hour prior.
