Nielsen this morning released the online ratings for news sites with news.com.au again leading the pack.

News.com.au retained the top spot with a record-breaking unique audience of 4.1m (up 4% year on year and up 10% compared to June 2015). This is the highest ever monthly audience for a Current Events & Global News sub-category website and the first time a site has broken the four million unique audience per month barrier.

More than one in five (23%) online Australians viewed content on a news.com.au page in July 2015.

Audiences on smh.com.au increased their time spent by 18% in July 2015 compared to June 2015 (now 1 hour 34 min).

Rankings for the top six sites in the Current Events & Global News sub-category remained unchanged in July 2015 compared to June 2015.

The Age increased their unique audience by 8% and jumped up a ranking to seventh place (overtaking Yahoo!7 news websites).

The Herald Sun increased their unique audience by 16% and jumped up a ranking to ninth place (overtaking The Daily Telegraph).
