Fairfax Media has launched a new biannual title called Spectrum Magazine. The newspaper inserted magazine will highlight the most exciting events on Australia’s performing and visual arts calendar.

Launching on 4 November, the magazine will come inside The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, and on 5 November in AFR Weekend.

Spectrum Magazine debuts as a 36-page, semi-gloss, visually sumptuous and information-rich magazine for those who love the arts and entertainment. It is edited by Spectrum Sydney editor Ardyn Bernoth and Spectrum Melbourne editor Lindy Percival.

Providing comprehensive coverage of the key upcoming cultural events in Melbourne, Sydney and around the nation, Spectrum Magazine will include everything from classical music to blockbuster musicals and major theatre, opera, art exhibitions, ballet, dance productions and much more.

Stories in the magazine will include: famous Australians nominating what they are most looking forward to in 2017, guides to the best movies, music gigs, visual art exhibitions, musicals, theatre, dance performances and opera, as well as interviews and articles with some of the most interesting international performers coming to Australia in 2017. There will also be a month-by-month calendar of performances, gigs and shows.

Fairfax Media head of lifestyle and entertainment, Monique Farmer, said: “We are very excited to be launching the inaugural Spectrum Magazine in The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Australian Financial Review for Summer/Autumn 2016/2017. Inspired by the annual SMH and The Age Arts Guides, Spectrum Magazine leverages the respected Spectrum brand and is a premium, glossy magazine that our audience will hold on to as a valuable source of arts information and inspiration.”
