Nine's national director of news and current affairs Darren Wick has confirmed Steven Burling as the new executive producer of A Current Affair.

"For the past six years, Steve's worked at 60 Minutes, most recently as the chief-of-staff, driving the sourcing, assigning and production of major investigations, exclusive interviews and ground-breaking issue-based stories.

"Prior to 60 Minutes, he worked in senior roles at ACA as Sydney bureau chief and chief of staff, as well as at the Today show.

"Steve is passionate about ACA and committed to great storytelling. He’ll bring new ideas and inspiration to the program and lead the fostering of a terrific team environment.

"We’ve ended 2017 with Tracy Grimshaw reinforcing her credentials as the best live interviewer going around. I’m really excited about the changes to the program and believe 2018 will be our best year ever."
