Production has commenced in Melbourne on the Nine Network’s new crime drama series Human Error.

Inspired by actual events, Human Error stars Leeanna Walsman (Wentworth, Safe Harbour) as Detective Holly O’Rourke, head of a homicide team pursuing a seemingly straightforward murder investigation that explodes into a huge criminal conspiracy. With time running out, Holly must battle a string of mistakes made by herself and others before they destroy her family and career.

Created by Greg Haddrick (Janet King, Underbelly), Samantha Winston (Love Me, Rush) and Gregor Jordan (North Shore, Two Hands), the series also features rising star Rahel Romahn (Shantaram, Mr Inbetween), winner of the Heath Ledger Scholarship in 2022, as Detective Jarred Pines.

Stephen Peacocke (The Newsreader, Informer 3838) joins as fellow investigator Dylan Mackenzie, Matt Day (Rake, Paper Giants) as Holly’s husband Luke, Rob Collins (The Legend of Molly Johnson, Mystery Road) as Sergeant Gavin Butterfield, and Steve Bisley (Mystery Road Origin, Doctor Doctor) plays Holly’s dad and retired detective Bear O’Rourke.

Joining the cast are Emily Joy (Fisk, The Housemate), Ethan Lwin (Young Rock, Joe vs. Carol), Debra Lawrance (Clickbait, Please Like Me), Daniela Farinacci (East West 101, Lantana), Jane Allsop (House Husbands, The Slap) and Anthony J Sharpe (Joe vs. Carol, Black Snow).

John Edwards and Dan Edwards (Romper Stomper, Bump, Year Of) with Nine’s Head of Drama, Andy Ryan are Executive Producers on Human Error alongside Producers Haddrick and Winston, with The Age’s crime reporter and podcaster John Silvester (Underbelly) as story consultant. Award-winning screen director Fiona Banks (Wentworth, Halifax Retribution) will direct the first three episodes of Human Error, followed by Mat King (Bloom, Pine Gap).

Human Error is a Roadshow Rough Diamond production for the Nine Network with major production investment from Screen Australia in association with Nine and VicScreen. International distribution will be handled by ITV Studios.
