The midyear radio ratings break came to an end for most breakfast broadcasters in metro markets around Australia.

It was a gentle return to ratings at the market's #1 FM station Triple M. After missing the last two days of survey before the break, Eddie McGuire was away again today, with co-host Luke Darcy telling listeners he was still on Lindsay Fox's boat in Europe. Also missing today was Triple M's Mick Molloy who celebrated his 50th birthday party last night with colleagues, friends and family.

The most exciting breakfast show on offer today was arguably KIIS's Kyle and Jackie O Show. The #1 Sydney FM breakfast show reached out to Nova this morning after a claim from KIIS newsreader Brooklyn Ross that Nova newsreader Matt de Groot had been using the KIIS news bulletins as an example of what not to do during a news break at a radio school session he was speaking at.

Kyle and Jackie O tried to get de Groot on air, unsuccessfully, then they also tried programmer Paul Jackson and then CEO Cathy O'Connor. Despite claiming he didn't want to start a radio war, Sandilands did manage to question the quality of broadcasting at Nova Entertainment, particularly smoothfm, which he did acknowledge had good ratings.
