Sydney Radio Ratings 2024 Survey 1: 2UE jumps to highest share in nearly a decade

2GB starts the year on top, dips for WSFM.

The Nine Talk station has started the year as the top Sydney station, lifting 0.6 points for a share of 12.7% – a higher share than any of the station’s surveys of 2023.

In breakfast, the battle between 2GB and KIIS has resulted in a win for Ben Fordham, who starts the year in first place, recording a share of 16.6% – also up 0.6 points. 

In his first survey since taking Afternoons over from Deb Knight, Michael McLaren has lifted the slot 1.7 points for a share of 9.5%.

Jumping KIIS FM, Nova’s smoothfm lands at second in the market despite a drop of 0.6 points to bring the station share to 10.8%. 

In breakfast, Bogart Torelli and Ron Wilson were down 0.6 points for a 7.7% share. Drive has dipped 0.3 points to bring in a share of 10.8%, keeping it the top overall show in the daypart by a margin of 0.1.

Having ended the year as Sydney’s top FM station, ARN’s KIIS has dipped a point for a 10.5% share. KIIS has kept the title of top cume with 1,456,000 – up by 25,000.

In breakfast, Kyle and Jackie O take the FM crown once again, despite a slide of 1.3 points bringing the show to a 15.4% share. 

In Drive, Will and Woody are down 0.2 points for 10.7%, staying second in the daypart by the thinnest of margins – only 0.1 points behind smoothfm. 

KIIS FM remains the top station in the 10-17 and  25-39 demographics, this survey losing 18-24 to Nova and 40-54 to smoothfm.

Leapfrogging WSFM, Nova starts the year at #4 after gaining 0.3 points. The breakfast lineup of Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie was the biggest commercial lifter of the survey, jumping 1.3 points for an 8.4% share. The Drive lineup of Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel was down 0.7 points for a 9.7% share – keeping them the third biggest show in the daypart.

WSFM has dipped 1.5 points for a share of 7.5%, the biggest slide of the Sydney survey. 

In breakfast, Jonesy and Amanda dipped 2.5 points, for a share of 7.0%.

Leapfrogging two stations, 2UE is the biggest lifter of the survey. Up 2.1 points,  the station saw 2UE record a 5.6% share – its highest share in over eight years. The station’s biggest demo was 65+, with a 16.5% share – up a massive 6.3 points.

In breakfast, Trevor Sinclair was up 1.6 points for a share of 3.3%.

Ending the year tied with 2Day FM, Triple M has broken away despite a dip of 0.2 points for a share of 5.0%.

In breakfast, Mick Molloy and Mark ‘MG’ Geyer are sitting at 5.1% after dipping 0.2 points. Drive was down 0.2 points.

2Day FM has recorded a 4.6% share in the Sydney radio ratings after dipping 0.6 points. 

The Breakfast Shift with Hughesy, Ed and Erin has dipped a point, bringing in a share of 3.9% share. In Drive, Carrie and Tommy were down 1.1 points for a 4.9% share.

Dipping 0.1 points and 6,000 in cume, Sky Sports Radio has started the year with a share of 1.1%.

SEN has lifted 0.7 points for a 1.1% share. Breakfast with Vossy and Brandy was up 0.2 for a share of 0.8%.
