Online Circle Digital has released its Australian Facebook performance report for Q1 2015.

It's a great report for the radio sector indicating the work they are doing on social media is paying dividends.

In the chart of the top 30 Facebook pages ranked by engagement, radio stations or programs hold seven of the top 10 spots. Southern Cross Austereo's Today Hit Network holds five of those spots with Fifi and Dave from The Fox on top with 2Day FM in second place.

A regional radio station punching well above its weight, and the only regional station in the top 30, is Hot FM Mackay at #10 on the chart.

Radio is also the top industry for engagement, well ahead of newspapers and magazines and then TV shows.

The top five radio pages ranked by fans are Hamish and Andy, Triple J, SBS PopAsia, Nova 937 and The Scoopla Show.

Joan Warner, CEO of Commercial Radio Australia, said: “This correlates with our own research demonstrating the continued positive impact of social media on radio. Radio triggers a superior level of interaction, and continues to lead the field in building lasting, deep relationships with audiences.”
