This week on Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie, premier Dominic Perrottet joined Fitzy, Wippa & Kate to release pigeons off the balcony of the studio in a race to determine who will win the state election this weekend.

The pigeons flew across Sydney to meet Matt De Groot at the finish line, with Labor taking out the win.

At the finish line, De Groot confirmed the win, saying, "Okay, well there are now four pigeons in the enclosure, two of them have a red tag two of them have a blue tag. Number 610 was the first pigeon in and number 610 is wearing a red tag it is a labor Chris Minns victory!"

The premier also shared his final sell for young people, saying “I know that many people and young people, particularly at this time, are doing it tough. And as Premier from the Liberal Party, you know, we've navigated through so many difficult economic challenges that are here now. And it's my team that has the experience to help get through.

Kate Richie has been on the Nova airwaves with Fitzy and Wippa since March 13.

A broadcaster, actor and author, Ritchie has spent 10 years as a part of the Nova Network’s on-air line-up, the last eight years as co-host of the Drive show alongside Nova’s Tim Blackwell and Joel Creasey. No stranger to breakfast radio, Ritchie also co-hosted Nova 96.9’s Sydney breakfast show alongside Merrick and Rosso for several years.

Ritchie said at the time, “I am so excited to be joining Fitzy and Wippa in the very competitive breakfast slot. I’m a huge fan of the show and I’ve been great mates with the boys for years. The past eight years on Drive has been an important part of my life but I’m thrilled to take on this new challenge by returning to breakfast radio in my hometown.

"I can’t wait to wake up Sydneysiders beside two of the industry’s much loved breakfast announcers.”

Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie airs 6am to 9am weekdays.
