In the lead up to World Proposal Day on Saturday, 20 March (tomorrow) the Gold Coast’s Hit 90.9 put on a huge surprise proposal.

Listeners registered for their chance to win a $15,000 engagement ring, a lucky winner was chosen and the team at Hit 90.9 including breakfast hosts Bianca, Dan, and Ben (Bianca Dye, Dan Anstey, and Ben Hannant) organised a proposal in the middle of blocked off streets in Broadbeach, Gold Coast.

From a flash mob to fire twirlers, stilt walkers, and acrobats, Ben Hannant led the soon-to-be groom, Jesse on a horse as he approached his very much surprised soon-to-be bride. Amongst the chaos, Jesse got down on one knee and proposed to partner, Liv who didn’t hesitate to say yes.

Watch the video of the proposal here.

Speaking to Bianca, Dan, and Ben after saying yes, Liv told the story of how her best friend had told her she was going to be part of a photoshoot for a sunglasses company.

“At the start, I was like ‘why would you get us to do a photoshoot, there’s a lot of better people on the Gold Coast than us.’ And I was like ‘why would you do this last minute as well. You know who I am, I’m a planner, I like to plan things’. So at the start I was a bit hesitant, like no, too much is happening, I just don’t have the time for it.”

“She kept on to me, kept texting me, and I was like why is she so keen on me? She said that they couldn’t find anyone else, and then I started to feel guilty and she’s my best friend, I need to help her out. Even this morning she kept talking to me about the sunglasses, even telling Nate [her son] that he was going to try on sunglasses. He’s a little disappointed, but I think the fire twirlers made up for that.”
