Southern Cross Austereo has confirmed Jimmy Smith is leaving the Jimmy & Nath with Emma Breakfast Show on Sydney’s 2DayFM, with the announcer citing mental health challenges.
Head of Hit Metro Content Amanda Lee said: “Jimmy Smith has made the difficult decision to step away from the Jimmy & Nath with Emma Breakfast Show on Sydney’s 2DayFM for personal reasons.
“Nath and Emma will continue to host 2DayFM Breakfast for the remainder of 2025.
“We respect Jimmy’s choice and thank him for his contribution to SCA.”
Smith said the decision followed time away from the show. “This has been one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make. Taking this week off made me realise just how much I’ve been struggling with my mental health. I’m not okay right now, and I need to step back and focus on getting well.
"Working with Nath, Emma and the entire team has meant so much to me. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together, and I wish them nothing but success.”
