Game show host John ‘Burgo’ Burgess is currently in Royal Perth Hospital after being rushed there on Wednesday night. The 78 year old is battling a bacterial infection.

Burgess is reportedly in a stable condition, and is in good spirits despite being in the ICU.

Burgess’ manager Evan Broadway told The West Australian that Burgess is doing well and due to be discharged on Friday.

“He wanted to work Saturday, and we said ‘nah mate have the weekend off, just take the day off,’” Broadway said.

“But that’s just how loyal he is to his listeners.”

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford has told Seven's The Morning Show that Burgess is not in a life or death situation, and it is “a case of him needing to be there so they can monitor him.”

Now a radio presenter with Perth station 6iX, John Burgess is best known for his time hosting shows such as Wheel of Fortune, Burgo’s Catch Phrase, and Pass the Buck.
