Melbourne Radio Ratings 2022, Survey 3: 3AW & Gold still sit at the top

3AW 14.7% (15.1%)

The market leader has lost a combined 1.9 points to start the year after the first three surveys, but the station still maintains a healthy lead of over three points on Gold 104.3. The cume for 3AW has held mostly steady, down only 4,000. Breakfast with Ross and Russ was up 0.5 as its market-leading share now sits at 19.4%. Morning with Neil Mitchell was down 1.0 this survey but Mitchell still maintains a robust lead on his competition. The station continues to dominate 55-64 and 65+.

Gold has remained steady after a surge in survey 2. Its cume still sits strongly over 1.1m after gaining 36,000, and surpassing Fox FM. Christian O’Connell has remained steady and is still the top FM breakfast show in the market, while Gold is also still #1 in afternoons and drive. The station also remains #1 in the 40-54 demographic.

smoothfm has enjoyed a big surge of 1.7% as it moves up to be the #3 station in the Melbourne market. smoothfm has moved past its sister station Nova, the last survey was only the second time in six years that Nova outranked smooth. smooth continues to be #1 in 65+ for FM stations.

101.1 Fox FM 8.8% (9.6%)

Fox FM has lost 0.8 as it slips down to be the #4 commercial station in the market. Fifi, Fev and Nick's breakfast share mirrored that of the station, down 0.9. The station's high remains afternoons although all dayparts were down in survey 3. Drive with Carrie and Tommy was down 0.9 to 8.8% with Carrie now co-hosting from London. Fox remains #1 10-17 and 25-39.

Nova 100 7.5% (7.4%)

Nova has remained steady but still drops one spot in the overall rankings. The breakfast show of  Chrissie, Sam and Browny has maintained most of its huge surge to start the year which saw it jump from 6.2% to 9.2% in the first two surveys, with the program only losing 0.3 in this survey. The drive slot improved 0.2 with  Kate, Tim and Joel now on 9.1%. 

105.1 Triple M 6.0% (5.4%)

Triple M has been able to move past KIIS after gaining 0.6 points. The breakfast share for Marty Sheargold continues to improve after jumping to 5.5%, an increase of 1.0. Triple M’s best was 7.4% in the afternoon. Drive was up to 6.2% after gaining 0.8. 

KIIS 101.1 FM 5.6% (6.1%)

KIIS' cume remains over one million despite the station losing 0.5 points on its market share.  Breakfast with Jase and Lauren has lost 0.9 points in the daypart, to drop to 5.4%. The station has surged to #1 in the 18-24 demographic after gaining 1.7 points. 

SEN 2.7% (2.6%)

Best Breakfast 3.8% (2.3%)

SEN remains steady as The breakfast share continues to improve, now up to 2.7%. Drive with Andy Maher now has the biggest station share on 3.2%. The station's best demo is now 25-39 with 4.7%. 

Magic 1278 1.4% (1.5%)

The station remains steady as its best daypart came on the weekend and its best demographics were 55-64 and 65+.

3MP 1377 1.0% (0.6%)

3MP bounced back from its loss in survey 2, now up to an even 1%. The station's best daypart was drive, with its best demo being 65+.

RSN 927 0.5% (0.9%)

Best 10+ 0.6% (0.3%)
Best Breakfast 1.0% (0.2%)

RSN has lost almost half of its share from survey 2. Weekends were kindest to them with 0.9%.
