Nova breakfast radio host Kate Ritchie has given away her very own Subaru Impreza to a deserving family from Sydney.

The radio star also gave away plenty of prizes and $5000 cash on Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie, on Friday morning.

Ritchie and co-hosts Fitzy and Wippa, have been collecting entries from listeners, all leading to the moment when winner Brook unlocked the lock box to reveal the keys to the car.

Brook had made her way from Sydney suburb Seven Hills early this morning with partner Cody and their two young kids. She has never owned a car before or been on a holiday, so the Subaru, the trip to Hamilton Island, and the boot full of prizes were a surprise – including Taylor Swift tickets, $5,000 cash and free fuel for a year.

Ritchie said of the giveaway: “This car can take the dog to the park, can take the kids to school and we have had a very worthy winner this morning. I wanted it to go to someone deserving, and Brook came down this morning with her family, and I’m so glad.

“She didn’t just get the car, her and her family are driving home with Taylor Swift tickets, $5000 cash, free fuel for a year, $500 a month for a year for groceries at Coles, along with plenty of other prizes.”

Nova has launched a competition Ritchie’s Subaru Impreza last month, in which listeners had to use their special skill to impress Ritchie for a chance to win the car.

Ritchie purchased the car before Christmas of 2019 and admitted that she “felt a little bit sad” that her car would be up for grabs.

Her co-host Fitzy asked if she considered herself a good driver, to which she answered: “I am a great driver. And I’m an awesome parker. I can park incredibly well. I think I must have grown up having to reverse park on Oxford Street Paddington.”

Ritchie said of her car: “It has looked after me, it has taken Annie to the park and my daughter to school.”
