Nova’s Chrissie, Sam and Browny rock The Pub at Crown for Underworks

Chrissie, Sam and Browny were on air with an early breakfast show today live from 5.30am as they hosted their annual Grand Final Breakfast.

Chrissie and Browny started the show in front of a crowd who started lining up outside The Pub at Crown from 4.30am.

Although Sam Pang had been starting at 6am for the previous two weeks, he was back at 7am duty today when he joined his co-hosts.

Melbourne’s Nova 100 has been holding its annual Grand Final Breakfast since 2019. The show today marked the end of a strenuous three-day week for the Chrissie, Sam and Browny breakfast team ahead of two consecutive public holidays for the state.

Guests on the show included Browny’s Fox Footy colleague Nathan Buckley, former Richmond/Essendon player Bachar Houli, Nine News sports presenter and journalist Tony Jones and Sydney captain Josh Kennedy.

Also on hand was Nova regular and Melbourne captain Max Gawn. On arrival, Gawn had to explain his raspy voice which was the result of a big night at the Brownlow Medal at Crown followed by Mad Monday which saw the team camped out at two Melbourne pubs.

Discussion with all guests of course was focused on Saturday’s AFL Grand Final between the Sydney Swans and Geelong Cats.

Pang put Gawn on the spot asking him why Melbourne failed to perform against Brisbane who subsequently crumbled up against Geelong. Pang even suggested Gawn should step down from the captaincy after three years in the role! Chrissie saved the moment by telling Gawn, “You are a lovely man, which means more to me.”

Another guest was Melbourne supporter and writer, presenter, performer and broadcaster Titus O'Reily.

Late in the show the Geelong coach Chris Scott talked about his team's chances on Saturday. He noted he will be out of contract after the Grand Final, and he also explained why Geelong is a good place to be.

The special outside broadcast was sponsored by long-time show partner Underworks. Helping keep the crowd motivated were regular prizes of $1000 cash. The team from Underworks in attendance included national sales director Kim Lees and CFO Wayne Chappel.
