Nova Entertainment has announced the appointment of Rhys Mugdan to the role of Sydney agency sales director.

Leading the agency commercial team in the Sydney market, Mugdan will be responsible for the commercialisation of Nova’s extensive audio assets, providing creative solutions and new media opportunities for clients. Mugdan will work alongside all business functions to ensure brands can realise the full benefit of Nova’s broadcast, streaming and podcast offerings.

A versatile and respected commercial leader with over eight years’ experience across agency, digital audio, and technology businesses, Mugdan joined Nova Entertainment as group sales manager in January 2020. With a background as a Government senior policy advisor, he got his start in media as a senior account manager with Publicis Mojo. He was an agency account director for ARN (twice winning Media i Radio Rep of the Year), senior sales lead for Snapchat Inc. and spent over a year with the Pedestrian Group as advertising lead for Tinder, responsible for setting up and growing the advertising platform in Australia.

Luke Minto, Nova Entertainment’s group commercial director said, “With the audio market continuing to enjoy stellar growth, now is the perfect time for Rhys to lead the largest team in the biggest market. A respected commercial leader, Rhys will bring extensive audio and digital experience, as well as a professional and creative energy, to the Sydney commercial team.”

Rhys Mugdan said, “I’m thrilled to take on this role at Nova at such an exciting time in audio. I'm passionate about understanding our clients' needs, and harnessing the power of creativity, insight and best use-of-channel to help drive outcomes for brands.”

Mugdan replaces Jess Roach who, after nine years with Nova Entertainment across Adelaide and Sydney markets, will depart the business to join Amazon.

Minto said, “Jess has made a significant impact in our business over the past nine years and will be missed by all. We wish her all the best with her new challenge after such an impressive innings at Nova.”
