Gold 104.3’s The Christian O’Connell show transformed into the ‘chapel of love’ when they planned and hosted the wedding of couple Aaron and Laura in less than three days.

Following Christian O’Connell’s Win A Billboard campaign that ran over the last two weeks, O'Connell gave listeners the chance to advertise their messages on over 100 billboards placed around the city.

The campaign storyline included an extension for Valentine’s Day, sparking the concept of giving one lucky couple the chance to host their wedding live on air and giving back to his loyal listeners by taking the financial burden and stress of planning a wedding out of the equation.

The idea came to fruition after Christian announced a call-out following Valentine’s Day, asking for listeners ready to get married this Friday. In less than 72 hours, Christian O’Connell and his team managed to get a cellist, an opera singer, a love swing, and a giant cake, amongst everything else they managed to secure in a matter of days

The wedding took place live on air, where the couple exchanged their vows and Melbournians all over the city witnessed the unity of love between the couple. Aaron and Laura have been together for ten years and engaged for nine of those years, but were never married due to their lack of time with having three kids

Earlier this month, The Christian O’Connell Show's Win A Billboard campaign went live across Melbourne. With 100 billboards across the city, each billboard could be updated in ‘real time’ throughout the course of the show.

O’Connell said, “It’s an idea I’ve wanted to do for a few years and every show right now is like Christmas Day when I was 10 years old, and I’ve got a new shiny toy that Melbourne gets to play with. I can’t wait to find out what message someone wants and how we can help them.

“I love trying to break new ground and surprise our audience in the morning and sticking to safe and predictable radio is for other shows who want to do the secret sound.”
