Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) has welcomed one of the most respected sports commentators Gerard Healy, as Sportsday joins the airwaves.

Joining the new Sportsday line-up is Kane Cornes will co-host the program alongside Healy.

From November 1, Sportsday will appear as a two-hour program on SEN 1116am at the new time slot of 5.30pm, addressing all the daily sports news. Additionally, various stations throughout regional Victoria including the ACE Radio Network, KLFM and Voice FM will simulcast the program.

With Healy having hosted the show for 25 years and Cornes not being afraid to express his strong opinions, the duo are set to continue the legacy of the program.

The revered drive program will also have a national reach, appearing in Tasmania on SEN Tassie 1629am and South Australia via SEN SA 1629am.

The radio network's chief executive Craig Hutchison said the combination of Healy and Cornes working side by side added even more exclusive content for their audience.

“Having Sportsday formally join the SEN platform is such a natural fit. While Gerard already has a strong connection to SEN via his commentary on Friday night football, we are delighted to expand his role for our listeners to hear his thoughts and takes during the week on Sportsday.

“There would be no more respected voice in the radio drive timeslot than Gerard. He has helped pioneer and lead the way on sports radio coverage in Australia as a top rating fixture every night since the early 1990s," Hutchison said.

"To have the show and Gerard moving to SEN 1116am and our broader SEN network is an honour. And Kane has been a breakout star in recent years – his opinions and observations always spark debate. Arguably no one’s views cut through and create more interest than Kane in AFL footy in 2022. It is going to be an explosive combination for the SEN audience,” Hutchison added.

Healy said he looked forward to further connecting with the SEN audience. “It has been a real privilege to host Sportsday for 25 years, and I couldn’t be more excited for the program to find a new home at SEN.

"I’m looking forward to working with Kane, someone I have huge respect for, as we cover all the big issues across the AFL and sport in general throughout the SEN airwaves," Healy added.

Cornes said he was equally excited to partner with Healy. “Gerard Healy is an icon of sports talk radio and it’s a privilege to partner with him on Sportsday on SEN.

"Big name guests, strong debate and the contribution from our passionate audience will be the hallmarks of our show. I couldn’t be more excited for what this show will deliver,” Cornes added.
