Shona Martyn returns to journalism as Spectrum editor
Martyn is a former editor of Good Weekend magazine
Award-winning journalist, editor and book publisher Shona Martyn returns to Fairfax Media following a successful career at HarperCollins Publishers as publishing director for more than 17 years.
Martyn is a former editor of Good Weekend magazine and was also founding editor of HQ magazine for ACP.
Martyn commented: “I am excited to be returning to journalism – and to Fairfax Media – in the role of Spectrum editor. I’m one of Spectrum’s multitude of loyal and culturally adventurous readers. After a highly enjoyable period in book publishing, this is a welcome opportunity to focus more broadly across the arts and into the lifestyle area too.
“As always, Spectrum will be committed to quality. My aim will be to inform, surprise, entertain, educate and challenge readers, in print and in digital, by publishing stories that matter, stories to keep and share.
At HarperCollins, Martyn was responsible for publishing authors such as Jimmy Barnes, Peter FitzSimons, Richard Glover, Colleen McCullough, Rosie Waterland and Geraldine Brooks.
Martyn also served on the board of the Sydney Writers’ Festival for eight years. Her knowledge across film, television, theatre, music and design make her the ideal person to edit the Saturday Spectrum section, said Fairfax.
