Sky News and The Australian will present the second annual business luncheon – Australia’s Economic Outlook – on Friday, 9 June 2023, featuring special guest The Hon Anthony Albanese MP, prime minister of Australia.

The prime minister will join Sky News political editor Andrew Clennell for a wide-ranging discussion, providing insights on the country’s economy following the release of his government’s first full Federal Budget.   The prime minister will also share his vision on how the nation will navigate the challenges and opportunities and explore the most topical issues facing business and the economy.   Following the success of the 2022 inaugural event which featured panel discussions and insights with prominent business and political leaders including Jim Chalmers MP, Treasurer of Australia, Sky News’ AM Agenda anchor and leading political journalist Laura Jayes returns to host the two-course business luncheon that will take place at Crown Sydney.

Sky News Business editor Ross Greenwood also returns as panel host, together with The Australian’s editorial director Claire Harvey, and will lead a discussion with key business leaders who will explore issues of vital concern to the stakeholders within their respective sectors.   Paul Whittaker, chief executive officer of Sky News Australia, said: "We are honoured to welcome prime minister Anthony Albanese to our second annual Australia’s Economic Outlook to share his vision for the nation.   "It will be a critical time for political and business decision-makers to discuss the economic challenges facing our nation, including the geopolitical instability and its impact on the economic outlook, and how we can work together to address the financial stress facing Australians, from hikes in energy prices to rising interest rates."   Michelle Gunn, editor-in-chief of The Australian, added: "We look forward to bringing Australia’s Economic Outlook event to life for the second year. At a time of economic uncertainty and instability, our readers are intensely focused on the challenges we face as a nation.   "This forum is a valuable contribution to the debate and it is tremendous that the Prime Minister has agreed to give an address and outline his plan for the future."

Further details regarding the line-up of key business and political leaders who will joining the discussion panels will be announced in the coming weeks.
