Unlike open-ended text-to-video tools, AI Clips are designed for repeat engagement and mass distribution.

Snap Inc. has introduced AI Clips in Lens Studio, a new AI-powered feature that transforms a single photo into a five-second video.

The feature is available to Snapchat Lens+ subscribers and allows developers to build and publish photo-to-video AI experiences directly within Lens Studio’s GenAI Suite.

From photo to video

AI Clips are designed as Snapchat Lenses that convert a Snap or Camera Roll image into a short-form video, using a closed prompt system controlled by developers.

This means creators define the creative direction, while users simply tap to generate the experience, producing cinematic results from a single image.

The format allows users to place themselves in stylised scenarios, from red carpet moments to surreal environments, turning everyday photos into shareable storytelling content.

Built for scale, not experimentation

Unlike open-ended text-to-video tools, AI Clips are designed for repeat engagement and mass distribution.

The closed-prompt system ensures consistency, making the format easier to scale across Snapchat’s user base while maintaining creative quality.

The feature also introduces monetisation opportunities, with developers enrolled in Lens+ Payouts able to earn directly from their creations.

A platform built on connection

The launch comes as Snapchat continues to highlight the scale of user engagement on the platform.

In 2025 alone, users created nearly two trillion Snaps, equivalent to 5.5 billion per day, 3.8 million per minute and 63,000 per second.

AI Clips are native to Lens Studio’s GenAI Suite, allowing developers to build and publish experiences quickly without external tools or complex workflows.

The move lowers the barrier to entry for both new and experienced creators, enabling faster production and distribution of AI-powered content.
