Kayo Sports has reported that the 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup – concluding with the final that saw Australia win against India – has become the most watched ICC Men’s World Cup of all time across Foxtel Group platforms.

The tournament was up 46 per cent on the previous tournament in 2019, and up 800 per cent in streaming.

Australia’s World Cup campaign saw an average of 223,000 viewers tuning in to watch each match, culminating with 494,000 viewers for Sunday’s final showdown against India, up 225 per cent on the 2019 Final between England and New Zealand.

The final also became the most streamed event ever on Kayo Sports, with over 2.5 million streams. This number beats out the previous most-watched event on Kayo Sports, Day 2 of the 2023 Australia v India World Test Championship.

On free to air, Nine’s broadcast of the final brought in an audience of 1,073,000 across five city metro.

Kayo Minis spotlighted two of Glenn Maxwell’s innings – his 202 not-out against Afghanistan, and his fastest-ever World Cup century against Netherlands. These highlights packages – dubbed “Kayo Maxi’s” for the tournament – clocked 317,000 and 97,000 streams respectively.

Managing director of Kayo Sports, Julian Ogrin said: “What a way to end an incredible World Cup. To see so many fans stream the match as the Aussies rose to a spectacular victory, from watching the live action on Sunday night to catching up or re-watching via our Kayo Minis, it was a fantastic night for Aussie sport.
