Novak Djokovic will take on Daniil Medvedev in the men’s singles final of the US Open on 9Gem and Stan Sport. The match begins at 6am AEST on September 11.

The last time the two met, Djokovic won the match in straight sets. It won’t be an easy ride for the Serbian, however, with Medvedev winning the opening two matches of his US Open run in straight sets.

If he wins the final, Djokovic will walk away with his 24th Grand Slam title.

Todd Woodbridge, Jelena Dokic, Brenton Speed and Brett Phillips will provide commentary for Nine’s Wide World of Sports on 9Gem and 9Now for the match.

After making it to the final by defeating Ben Shelton 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (4), Djokovic told the media that “I expect the toughest match, whoever is across the net from me.

“[The semi-final is] going to be a nice match for me to watch, with my feet up, popcorn and some drinks!”

The second semi final was won by Medvedev, taking out defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.

“[It was] amazing, especially beating someone like Carlos,” Medvedev said after the match.

“Before the match for sure I had a lot of doubts after losing easily to him twice this year.

“I said I needed to play 11 out of 10 - I played 12 out of 10, except for the third set.”

The next Grand Slam will be the Australian Open in January. In the 2023 final, 1,322,000 tuned in to Nine to see Novak Djokovic win his 10th Australian Open men’s singles title, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas. The win saw Djokovic tie Rafael Nadal‘s record of 22 slam titles.
