• Optus Sport has launched a new mobile app with innovative new features and an improved layout

The Premier League season is set to make its long-awaited and joyful return on Thursday 18 June AEST when Manchester City take on Arsenal and Aston Villa play Sheffield United.

The Premier League was suspended on 13 March due to the COVID-19 pandemic and will return with new kick-off times and matches played behind closed doors.

Optus Sport recently became the first Australian broadcaster to resume live major football after landing Australian rights to K League, which started streaming on May 8.

Optus Sport will stream all 92 remaining live games when the 2019/20 season provisionally restarts on 18 June and a full round of fixtures begins on 20 June.

“The Premier League’s return is a huge moment for live sport and we’re thrilled to reconnect our passionate Optus Sport customers to what they love,” Optus’ Head of TV and Content, Corin Dimopoulos, said.

“For sport-starved fans, the Premier League’s return could not come at a better time. Live sport is a great unifier that brings people together from across the world through shared moments of joy and excitement.

“Optus Sport is the exclusive Australian home of the world’s most watched football league and we can’t wait to bring every game live and on-demand to our customers from 18 June.”

Optus Sport’s coverage of the Premier League includes comprehensive live programming and all games available on-demand, including the popular mini-matches and highlights.

Optus Sport has launched a new mobile app with innovative new features and an improved layout to engage fans and provide an even more immersive experience.

“We have re-built our app from the ground-up to give football fans the best possible experience when streaming live or on-demand. The new app design is bursting with more content, archives and competitions, two round-the-clock football channels, personalised content feeds and a new 'Match Centre', which combines all the coverage and stats in one place,” said Corin.

Optus Sport will also give viewers the option to experience games with virtual crowd noise to replicate the unique, vibrant atmosphere of each stadium. If fans prefer the natural sound of the matches without crowd noise, they will have that option too.

All 92 remaining matches will also feature their own studio coverage, while enhancements such as virtual analysis from players’ perspectives, player cam content and live warm-ups on social media for certain matches will also feature.
