Stan has revealed the commentary team who will be taking the reigns for the UCI Road World Championships in Wollongong. Held from 18 September to 25 September, this will be the second time the UCI Road World Championships has been hosted in Australia throughout its 101-year history.

Stan director of sports Ben Kimber said: “This is an enormous event in the world sporting calendar and we're extremely pleased to be able to add a quality team to Stan Sport’s coverage. Michael, Kate, Scott and Sophie will ensure viewers are given the best possible expertise and insight into the on and off-course events that are going to light up Wollongong.”

Leading the commentary team at Stan Sport is cycling expert Michael Tomalaris, who has a celebrated career in sports commentary that extends over three decades. Tomalaris has lent his commentary stylings to global cycling events, including the Giro d’Italia, the Vuelta Ciclista a España and Paris-Roubaix, as well as the 26 years he hosted Australia’s coverage of the biggest cycling race in the world – the Tour de France.

Joining Tomalaris are former Olympic cyclists, Scott McGrory and Kate Bates, while sports journalist Sophie Smith will be on the ground in Wollongong providing on-the-beat coverage of the action.

Stan Sports Wollongong 2022 analyst Kate Bates said: “A home World Championships is an absolute dream for an athlete, and in the same way, a dream for me in the broadcast team. It’s lining up to be an incredible 8 days, and really exciting to have the world’s best descend on Aussie shores to race for the rainbow jersey. With all the action live to our screens it will be an incredible pleasure to share all the thrills and spills with the fans.”

Stan Sport’s exclusive coverage of the 2022 UCI Road World Championships begins on Sunday 18 September 2022 with every race streaming ad-free, live and on-demand.
