GT Global Race SDN BHD, owner and promoter of the Kuala Lumpur City Grand Prix, has appointed Supercars Media as the television production service provider for the event.

Supercars Media, a business subsidiary of V8 Supercars, was awarded the contract following an extensive global search for a production partner capable of delivering a turn-key solution for the inaugural event. The broadcast is expected to reach 1.2 billion people across more than 100 countries.

The inaugural KL City Grand Prix will be contested through the heart of Kuala Lumpur early next month (August 7-9) with more than 100,000 people expected to visit the capital across the weekend.

General manager of Supercars Media Scott Young said this project is one of the most significant developments in global motorsport and the impact of the broadcast will be one of the most valued assets to the city of Kuala Lumpur.

“We are delighted to have been awarded this contract and to have the opportunity to export the vast motorsport experience our team has to this landmark event. We have produced coverage of the V8 Supercars in China, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Austin, Texas. The imagery of the start line under the KLCC Towers will captivate a global motorsport audience.”

“Scott Young and his production team are quite simply the best in the business,” V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton said.
